What will you learn?
Rate PADI Assistant Instructor is the first step on the diving instructor path. During the training, you will develop your teaching skills, gain practical experience in working with students and learn methods of conducting theoretical and practical classes in accordance with PADI standards.
After completing the course, you can assist a PADI instructor at all levels of training and independently conduct selected elements of the courses, which makes you a valuable member of the training team.
This is an ideal solution for Divemasters who want to take the next step towards full instructor qualifications.

Minimum age
18 years old
Prerequisites
PADI Divemaster certification or equivalent.
60 logged dives with aerial equipment.
Current medical examinations (valid for 1 year).
Validated first aid and CPR training.</p
Duration
approx. 4-5 days.
Course completion requirements
Pass theoretical examinations with:
Test of general knowledge about diving (including physics, physiology, hardware, environment, RDP)
- PADI Standards and Procedures Test (based on Instructor Manual)
Each examination: minimum 75% correct answers
Prepare i give academic presentations (i.e. mini-lectures for students).
Prove the ability to conduct activities in water:
Simulation of swimming pool sessions (e.g. learning how to use a diving mask, buoyancy).
Execute Pool skills assessed (primarily: technology, group control, security).
Show high level of PADI standards and instructor ethics.

Schedule

🟦 Day 1 – Introduction and theory
- Welcome, discussion of the course structure and training objectives
- Presentation: PADI system and teaching philosophy
- Overview of AI responsibilities and role on the instructional team
- Start of preparation of theoretical presentations
- Theoretical examination – general knowledge and standards.
🟦 Day 2 – Theory teaching and classroom exercises
Theoretical presentations of students (part 1)
Analysis and evaluation of presentations – feedback
Introduction to swimming pool teaching
Demonstration techniques and group control
Briefings and debriefings – how to conduct professional classes.
🟦 Day 3, 4 – Pool classes (confined water)
Presentations of students’ swimming pool exercises (part 1)
Grading, correcting errors, conducting classes in accordance with standards
Demonstration of 24 basic diving skills
Briefing and group management exercises.
🟦 Day 5 (optional) – Make-up exams and individual work
Additional exercises or supplements
Consultation with an instructor
Discussion of the further path: full IDC course, IE exam, OWSI path.
The schedule can be individually adapted to the group – we also run weekend or extended courses (e.g. 2 weekends).

Instructions for use
A set of exercise cards for planning practical classes

Equipment
- ABC equipment (mask, snorkel, fins, hood, gloves, diving shoes)
- wetsuit for the pool (diving in the pool for approx. 2 – 3 hours
- a regulator in a standard recreational configuration with an alternative air source
- Recreational BCD
- open water dry suit or wetsuit adapted for diving in Polish waters
- diving cylinder (capacity 12l and/or 15 liters)
- ballast
- measuring devices, computer, compass
- additional equipment: reel, signaling buoy, diving board, whistle or “drake” signaling tool
- resuscitation mask.
Additional charges
The cost of the PADI certificate should be added to the course price 222 euros.

Working as an Assistant Instructor– As a PADI Assistant Instructor, you can work in various diving centers, for example as a diving guide, assistant instructor or diving group leader. You can also work in popular tourist destinations around the world.
